Can You Take A Skill Feat As A General Feat? [Solved]
Gotcha! Skill feats are a special type of general feat. All skill feats are general feats, but not all general feats are skill feats. In other words, when you get a general feat, you can choose any one of the options listed in the feats chapter starting on page 160.
Skill Feat: A skill feat is a special ability that allows a character to perform an action or gain an advantage in a particular situation. These feats are usually associated with specific skills, such as Acrobatics, Athletics, or Stealth. Examples of skill feats include Improved Initiative, which grants the character a bonus to initiative checks; Nimble Fingers, which grants the character proficiency with thieves’ tools; and Quick Draw, which allows the character to draw weapons as a bonus action.
General Feat: A general feat is any feat that does not require proficiency in any particular skill or set of skills. These feats can provide bonuses to various attributes and abilities such as Strength, Constitution, and Perception; they can also grant special abilities such as Extra Attack or Lucky Break. Examples of general feats include Alertness (granting +5 to Perception checks), Great Weapon Master (allowing for extra damage when using two-handed weapons), and Tough (granting additional hit points).
Multiclassing: Multiclassing is the process of taking levels in multiple classes at once in order to gain access to their respective features and abilities. This can be done by taking levels in two different classes at once (such as Fighter/Rogue) or by taking levels in one class followed by another class (such as Fighter/Wizard). Multiclassing allows characters to combine different class features into one powerful build while still maintaining some level of specialization
Skill feats are special abilities that you can learn to do, like playing an instrument or speaking a foreign language. General feats are more general abilities that you can develop, like being able to think quickly on your feet or having good problem-solving skills. Both types of feats require practice and dedication, but they can really pay off in the long run!
